Last Updated: June 24, 2026
At Right News India, we are committed to responsible journalism, editorial accountability, transparency, fairness, and the timely resolution of legitimate complaints.
This Grievance Redressal Policy explains how readers, individuals, organizations, public authorities, advertisers, contributors, copyright owners, and other affected parties may submit grievances relating to content or services published on RightNewsIndia.com.
It also explains how grievances are acknowledged, examined, resolved, escalated, recorded, and disclosed.
1. Purpose of This Policy
The purpose of this Grievance Redressal Policy is to provide readers with a clear, accessible, and transparent mechanism for raising concerns regarding content published by Right News India.
Through this policy, we aim to:

This policy should be read together with our Editorial Policy, Corrections Policy, Copyright Policy, Privacy Policy, Advertising and Sponsored Content Policy, Terms and Conditions, and other applicable website policies.
2. Scope of the Grievance Mechanism

3. Governing Framework
Right News India seeks to handle grievances in accordance with applicable Indian law and recognised principles of responsible digital journalism.
Where applicable, our grievance mechanism is intended to operate in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, as amended, and the Code of Ethics applicable to publishers of news and current-affairs content.
Nothing in this policy limits any right or remedy available to a person under applicable law.
4. Three-Level Grievance Redressal Structure
For grievances relating to the Code of Ethics applicable to digital news publishers, the grievance-redressal framework may operate through the following levels:
Level I – Self-Regulation by Right News India
The grievance is first submitted to and reviewed by the designated Grievance Officer of Right News India.
The Grievance Officer serves as the primary contact point for receiving and examining grievances relating to content published on RightNewsIndia.com.
Level II – Self-Regulating Body
Where a complainant is dissatisfied with Right News India’s decision, or where a decision is not communicated within the prescribed period, the grievance may be escalated to the recognized self-regulating body of which Right News India is a member.
Name of Self-Regulating Body: Right News Grievance Cell
Website: RightNewsIndia.Com
Appeal Email or Portal: admin@rightnewsindia.com
Level III – Oversight Mechanism
Where a complainant remains dissatisfied after Level II, an appeal may be made to the applicable oversight mechanism of the Central Government in accordance with the procedure and timelines prescribed under applicable law.

Right News India shall designate a Grievance Officer based in India to receive, examine, coordinate, and respond to grievances.

The acknowledgment may include:
- Confirmation of receipt;
- Date and time of registration;
- A grievance or reference number;
- A request for additional information;
- Details of the expected review process;
- Contact information for further correspondence.
An acknowledgment confirms only that the grievance has been received. It does not mean that the complaint has been accepted as valid or that the requested action will necessarily be taken.
9. Resolution Timeline
Right News India aims to examine the grievance, take a decision, and communicate the outcome to the complainant within 15 days of registration, subject to applicable law.
The review period may require reasonable coordination where:
- Important documents are missing;

- Multiple parties are involved;
- The content concerns an ongoing investigation;
- Court proceedings are pending;
- Technical evidence must be examined;
- Translation or verification is required;
- The grievance involves a serious legal or public-safety issue.
Where additional information is required, the complainant may be requested to provide it within a reasonable period.
10. How Grievances Are Reviewed
The Grievance Officer may undertake one or more of the following steps:
- Read or view the disputed content;
- Examine the complaint and supporting evidence;
- Review editorial notes, source material, documents, recordings, or communications;
- Consult the author, reporter, editor, photographer, or contributor;

- Verify quotations, dates, names, figures, photographs, and official records;
- Examine copyright ownership or licensing documents;
- Request a response from the affected individual or organization;
- Consult technical, editorial, legal, privacy, or advertising personnel;
- Assess public-interest considerations;
- Determine whether a correction, clarification, update, restriction, or removal is justified.
Each grievance will be considered on its own facts and available evidence.
11. Possible Outcomes
After review, Right News India may take one or more of the following actions:
- Reject the grievance with reasons;
- Request further information;
- Correct a factual error;
- Clarify potentially misleading information;
- Update an article with new verified facts;
- Add an editor’s note;
- Correct a headline, caption, photograph, or video;
- Add the response of an affected person;
- Improve attribution or sourcing;
- Add a disclosure;
- Restrict or remove personal information;
- Replace or remove copyrighted material;
- Modify or remove an advertisement;
- Temporarily restrict access to disputed material;
- Retract or remove content in exceptional circumstances;
- Take no action where the content is accurate, lawful, properly attributed, or protected opinion;
- Refer the matter to an appropriate authority, self-regulating body, or legal adviser.
The final action will depend on the seriousness of the issue, the reliability of the evidence, applicable law, editorial standards, and the public interest.
12. Editorial Complaints and Factual Corrections
A complaint relating to an alleged factual error should identify:
- The exact inaccurate statement;
- The correct information;
- Reliable evidence supporting the requested correction;
- The article URL;
- The date of publication.
Right News India distinguishes between:
- A factual error;
- A genuine difference of opinion;
- A disputed allegation;
- Commentary or analysis;
- A properly attributed statement;
- Information that was accurate at the time of publication but later changed.
Corrections will generally be considered where credible evidence demonstrates that published information is materially inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or wrongly attributed.
13. Opinion, Commentary and Analysis
Opinion articles, columns, reviews, and analytical content may contain interpretation, criticism, or personal viewpoints.
A disagreement with an opinion does not automatically establish a factual error or breach of policy.
However, factual assertions contained within opinion or analysis remain subject to verification and correction.
Where necessary, Right News India may distinguish opinion from news more clearly or add relevant context.
14. Right of Reply
A person or organisation directly and materially affected by a report may request an opportunity to provide a response.
A right-of-reply request should:
- Identify the relevant article;
- Explain which allegations or claims require a response;
- Provide a concise and factual reply;
- Include supporting evidence where appropriate;
- Avoid unlawful, threatening, abusive, or defamatory statements.
Publication of a reply is subject to editorial review.
Right News India may edit a reply for length, clarity, relevance, legality, and style while preserving its essential meaning.
15. Privacy and Personal Information Complaints
A person may submit a grievance where content allegedly:
- Publishes unnecessary personal information;
- Reveals private contact details;
- Identifies a minor inappropriately;
- Contains intimate or sensitive material;
- Creates a serious and unjustified risk to personal safety;
- Uses a photograph or personal detail in a misleading context;
- Violates a lawful expectation of privacy.
Right News India will balance privacy interests against:
- Freedom of expression;
- Public interest;
- Open-court principles;
- Official records;
- Accountability of public officials;
- The seriousness of the matter;
- The passage of time;
- The risk of harm.
Privacy concerns may be sent to admin@rightnewsindia.com with the subject:
Privacy Grievance – Content URL
16. Complaints Involving Children
Complaints involving minors will receive careful consideration.
Where appropriate, Right News India may:
- Remove or obscure identifying details;
- Blur photographs or videos;
- Modify headlines or captions;
- Restrict sensitive information;
- Remove unnecessary family, school, or location details;
- Seek legal or editorial guidance;
- Priorities the safety and best interests of the child.
The complainant should clearly state that the grievance concerns a child and explain the potential harm.
17. Copyright and Intellectual-Property Complaints
A copyright complaint should include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work;
- Exact URL of the allegedly infringing material;
- Evidence of ownership or authorization;
- Identification of the disputed text, photograph, video, or graphic;
- Explanation of why the use is unauthorized;
- Full contact information;
- A good-faith declaration;
- Physical or electronic signature.
Copyright complaints should be sent to:
Use the subject line:
Copyright Complaint – Content URL
Right News India may request additional evidence before taking action.
18. Advertising and Sponsored-Content Complaints
Complaints concerning advertisements, affiliate links, sponsored articles, advertorials, promotional claims, or commercial partnerships should be sent to:
Advertising complaints may include concerns regarding:
- Missing sponsorship disclosures;
- Misleading claims;
- Fake offers;
- Fraudulent recruitment;
- Unsupported medical claims;
- Deceptive financial promotions;
- Impersonation;
- Harmful advertisements;
- Copyright or trademark infringement;
- Advertisements designed to resemble independent news.
Please include the relevant URL, screenshot, advertiser name, date, time, and a clear description of the concern.
19. Defamation and Reputational Complaints
A person alleging that content is defamatory should clearly identify:
- The exact disputed words or statements;
- Why the statements are alleged to be false;
- The person or organization allegedly affected;
- Supporting evidence;
- The correction, clarification, or remedy requested;
- Any relevant legal communication.
A general request to remove an article merely because it is critical, embarrassing, or unfavorable will not automatically justify removal.
Right News India may consider whether the publication:
- Is factually supported;
- Is properly attributed;
- Concerns a matter of public interest;
- Fairly represents the available evidence;
- Includes or requires the affected party’s response;
- Should be corrected, clarified, or updated.
20. Complaints Regarding Court or Police Matters
Where content concerns a criminal allegation, police investigation, arrest, court proceeding, or legal dispute, Right News India may examine:
- The stage of the proceedings;
- The presumption of innocence;
- Official records and court orders;
- Whether an acquittal, discharge, closure report, or later development requires an update;
- Restrictions imposed by law;
- The protection of victims, witnesses, and minors;
- Whether continued publication serves a legitimate public interest.
Complainants should provide certified or verifiable legal documents wherever available.
21. Emergency and Safety-Related Complaints
Grievances involving an immediate threat to life, child safety, sexual exploitation, intimate imagery, serious privacy harm, or public safety should be clearly marked:
URGENT SAFETY GRIEVANCE
The complaint should explain the immediate risk and provide the exact URL and evidence.
Right News India may priorities urgent grievances and take temporary protective measures while the issue is reviewed.
This grievance mechanism is not an emergency service. Where a person faces an immediate threat, the appropriate police, emergency service, cybercrime authority, or competent government agency should also be contacted.
22. Anonymous Complaints
Right News India may consider anonymous complaints where they raise a credible issue of significant public interest or safety.
However, anonymity may limit our ability to:
- Verify the complaint;
- Request clarification;
- Assess the complainant’s authority;
- Communicate the outcome;
- Determine whether the request is genuine.
Where confidentiality is requested, Right News India may take reasonable steps to protect the complainant’s identity, subject to legal obligations.
23. Confidentiality
Right News India will seek to handle personal information submitted with grievances responsibly.
Information may be shared internally with persons reasonably required to examine the complaint, including:
- The Grievance Officer;
- Editors and reporters;
- Technical personnel;
- Legal advisers;
- Advertising personnel;
- Management representatives;
- The relevant self-regulating body;
- Government authorities where lawfully required.
Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where disclosure is required by law, court order, regulatory direction, public-safety obligation, or the proper investigation of the complaint.
24. False, Misleading or Abusive Complaints
Right News India welcomes genuine and good-faith grievances.
However, we may reject, restrict, or discontinue correspondence concerning complaints that are:
- Knowingly false;
- Fraudulent or fabricated;
- Repetitive without new evidence;
- Abusive, threatening, or harassing;
- Submitted through impersonation;
- Intended to suppress lawful public-interest journalism;
- Based entirely on political or ideological disagreement;
- Designed to misuse copyright, privacy, or defamation procedures;
- Generated in bulk without reviewing the disputed content;
- Unsupported by any identifiable facts.
Threats, intimidation, commercial pressure, political influence, or advertising relationships will not determine the outcome of a grievance.
25. Grievance Registration Date
A grievance will normally be treated as registered when Right News India has received sufficient information to:
- Identify the complainant;
- Locate the disputed content;
- Understand the nature of the complaint;
- Assess the remedy requested;
- Begin a meaningful review.
Where essential information is missing, the complainant may be asked to complete the submission before formal registration.
26. Communication of the Decision
The response to a grievance may include:
- A summary of the complaint;
- The material reviewed;
- The decision taken;
- The reason for the decision;
- Any corrective or protective action;
- The date of implementation;
- Information about escalation or appeal, where applicable.
Right News India may limit the disclosure of confidential editorial sources, personal information, legally privileged communications, security details, or information restricted by law.
27. Escalation to the Self-Regulating Body
Where the complainant is dissatisfied with Right News India’s decision, an appeal may be made to the self-regulating body of which Right News India is a member, generally within 15 days of receiving the decision, subject to the applicable rules and procedures.
If Right News India does not communicate a decision within the prescribed period, the grievance may be escalated in accordance with the applicable legal framework.

- Internal review;
- Decisions communicated;
- Corrections or other actions;
- Appeals and directions.
Records may be preserved for the period required under applicable law or for a longer period where reasonably necessary for legal, editorial, administrative, security, or compliance purposes.
31. Editorial Independence
The grievance process exists to correct genuine errors, address legitimate harm, and ensure accountability.
It must not be used to:
- Demand favorable coverage;
- Remove accurate reporting merely because it is inconvenient;
- Conceal matters of public interest;
- Pressure journalists;
- Prevent lawful criticism;
- Rewrite historical records without evidence;
- Obtain advertising or political advantage.
Decisions will be based on evidence, applicable law, editorial standards, fairness, and the public interest.
32. No Admission of Liability
Acknowledging, investigating, correcting, clarifying, updating, restricting, or removing content does not automatically constitute an admission of legal liability.
Right News India may take corrective or protective action in good faith to improve accuracy, fairness, safety, transparency, or compliance.
